Cookie Policy
Last updated April 2026.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. They let a site remember things like whether you're signed in or which preferences you've set.
2. Cookies we use
The application at app.mailbird.io uses cookies for the following purposes:
- Authentication. A session cookie keeps you signed in. Without it, you'd have to log in on every page. This cookie is essential and cannot be disabled while using the application.
- Preferences. A small cookie remembers UI preferences such as your selected theme. Optional; clearing it just resets the preference.
The marketing site at mailbird.io does not set authentication or preference cookies of its own.
3. Advertising and measurement
Both the marketing site and the application load Google's gtag.js from googletagmanager.com. This is how we measure the performance of our Google Ads campaigns and attribute sign-ups to the campaigns that drove them. Google sets a small number of cookies on your device when this script loads, including:
_gcl_auon the Mailbird domain — used by Google to attribute conversions to ad clicks. Typical lifetime: 90 days.- Cookies on Google-operated domains (
google.com,doubleclick.net) — used by Google to recognise you across sites for advertising purposes, including showing you Mailbird ads on other Google properties (remarketing).
We do not use cookies for any other third-party analytics platform, and we do not sell or share cookie data with parties other than Google in this context.
4. Third-party cookies during checkout
When you click a "Start free trial" or other billing-related button, you are taken to Polar.sh. Polar.sh sets its own cookies on its own domain to operate checkout and the customer portal. We do not control those cookies; see Polar.sh's privacy and cookie notices for details.
5. How to opt out
Every modern browser lets you block or clear cookies on a per-site basis. Disabling cookies for app.mailbird.io will prevent you from staying signed in.
To stop Google from using your cookies for personalised ads (including Mailbird remarketing), visit Google's Ad Settings. To opt out across all participating ad networks at once, see Your Online Choices (EU) or AdChoices (US). Browser-level "Do Not Track" signals are honoured to the extent your browser communicates them to Google.
